Herb or Spice?

What is the difference between an herb and a spice? Herbs and spices are both from plants and are used in very small amounts to flavour food.

"Herb" refers to a low-growing plant with fleshy parts that are used in brewing tea, dying food, textiles and yarn, for perfuming the air and as medicines.

"Spice" refers to seasonings made from dried bark or seed. Spices generally originate in the Far East and tropical countries. For example, India is the source of origin cinnamon and nutmeg, and China is the source of ginger.

The tea blends of Hockley Valley Herb & Tea Ltd. are produced from a variety of wild-crafted herbs and flowers with a measure of quality that exceeds organic standards. Our all-natural herbal teas are rain water fed and skillfully hand picked and dried. Our unique blends are delectable, refreshingly aromatic and do not contain additives or preservatives.

The varieties of the selected herbs have renowned beneficial qualities and encourage holistic well-being. The herbal teas are offered in non-bleached hemp tea bags, providing a safe chemical-free alternative to conventional bags.
