Hot Brewing Method

  1. Bring freshly drawn cold water to a rolling boil.

  2. Place one teaspoon of Rooibos for each cup into the teapot.

  3. Pour the boiling water into the pot, cover and let steep for five minutes or longer.

  4. Pour into a cup; add milk and sugar to taste.

There is no danger of over steeping Rooibos due to its low tannin content.

Cold Brewing Method

To make one litre / quart:

  1. Place five teaspoons of Rooibos into a teapot or heat resistant pitcher.

  2. Pour 1¼ cups of freshly boiled water over the Rooibos; cover and let steep for five minutes or longer.

  3. Quarter fill a serving pitcher with cold water; pour Rooibos into the serving pitcher, straining the leaves.

  4. Add ice and top-up with cold water.

  5. Garnish and sweeten to taste.

Brewing methods using the microwave should not be used.

Research has shown that the antioxidant activity of Rooibos is increased when the brewing time is more than five minutes.

Pregnant and breastfeeding women and persons taking medication should consult their doctors before consuming a product made with natural herbs.
