Discover the true meaning of a Natural Candle. Our Candles are all Eco Friendly and all the ingredients are from nature.

We spent months developing our candles and the final results are stunning. Not only they are 100% natural, but their fragrance will infuse your home, office, workplace with aromas that are powerful in the natural sense without **phthalates, using Aromatherapy. Imagine the joy you feel when taking a deep breath of fresh air when a rainstorm is approaching - or fresh flowers both are very strong aromas, yet are not offensive.  Our candles are free from any chemicals, dyes  or colors.

We handcraft all of our products to be in harmony with our planet, to preserve the natural balance of the world we live in.  This is why we have chosen to offer Bee's wax candle only for a short period of time per year.  Bee's wax is truly the best in the world, however to maintain the balance of nature, we must understand the importance of Bee's Wax to the bees. If everyone converted to bees wax for candles we would cause serious harm to the bee population, which we are dependant on. Bee's pollinate crops, which we rely on to eat.  If there were no bees - we would suffer a famine that we could not recover from.  Bees are vital to our existance!

According to Wikipedia  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beeswax

"Beeswax is a natural wax produced in the bee hive of honey bees of the genus Apis. Worker bees (the females) have eight wax-producing mirror glands on the inner sides of the sternites (the ventral shield or plate of each segment of the body) on abdominal segments 4 to 7. The size of these wax glands depends on the age of the worker and after daily flights begin these glands gradually atrophy. The new wax scales are initially glass-clear and colorless (see illustration), becoming opaque after mastication by the worker bee. The wax of honeycomb is nearly white, but becomes progressively more yellow or brown by incorporation of pollen oils and propolis. The wax scales are about 3 millimetres (0.12 in) across and 0.1 millimetres (0.0039 in) thick, and about 1100 are required to make a gram of wax.[1] Typically, for a honey bee keeper, 10 pounds of honey yields 1 pound of wax.[2]

Western honey bees use the beeswax to build honeycomb cells in which their young are raised and honey and pollen are stored. For the wax-making bees to secrete wax, the ambient temperature in the hive has to be 33 to 36 °C (91 to 97 °F). To produce their wax, bees must consume about eight times as much honey by mass. It is estimated that bees fly 150,000 miles, roughly six times around the earth, to yield one pound of beeswax (530,000 km/kg). When beekeepers extract the honey, they cut off the wax caps from each honeycomb cell with an uncapping knife or machine. Its color varies from nearly white to brownish, but most often a shade of yellow, depending on purity and the type of flowers gathered by the bees. Wax from the brood comb of the honey bee hive tends to be darker than wax from the honeycomb. Impurities accumulate more quickly in the brood comb."

To allow for the bees to rest and use their wax - we needed to find a suitable substitute and after careful research we discovered Soya Wax, specifically EcoSoya wax. Our wicks are 100% cotton and lead free. (Bet you didn't know that regular candles have lead in the wicks did you?)  We are proud to say our candles are also 100% environmently friendly.

Hockley Valley Herb and Tea also recommends the following tips for Candle Burning

  • Never move or leave candles unattended while burning.
  • Keep the wick trimmed to ¼ inch to prevent smoking and carbon mushrooming. Re-trim the wick before every use.
  • Burn in a draft free area clear of combustible material such as curtains, books, baskets, etc.
  • Candles should be spaced apart while lit to prevent uneven burning.
  • Keep the burn pool clean; never throw matches into the candle.
  • Keep candles out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources.
  • Always place candles on or in a non-combustible, heat-resistant base set on a level stable surface.
  • Extremes of heat and cold should be avoided. Do not store candles in the freezer and never leave them in a hot car.
  • Candles may be cleaned by washing them gently in cool water. Allow to air dry before use.

CANDLE FACTS!  a candle in your car can save your life if you break down on a cold night, the heat from one candle can produce enough heat to prevent you suffering from hypothermia. Make sure you keep a lighter available in the car to light the candle.

** Phthalates, called “plasticizers,” are a group of industrial chemicals used to make plastics like polyvinyl chloride (PVC) more flexible or resilient and also as solvents. Phthalates are nearly ubiquitous in modern society, found in, among other things, toys, food packaging, hoses, raincoats, shower curtains, vinyl flooring, wall coverings, lubricants, adhesives, detergents, nail polish, hair spray and shampoo.

Phthalates have been found to disrupt the endocrine system. Several phthalate compounds have caused reduced sperm counts, testicular atrophy and structural abnormalities in the reproductive systems of male test animals, and some studies also link phthalates to liver cancer, according to the U.S. Center for Disease Control’s 2005 National Report on Human Exposure to Environmental Chemicals. Though the CDC contends the health hazards of phthalates to humans have not been definitively established, for some years, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has regulated phthalates as water and air pollutants.
